In November of 1997, through the hard work of founders Jerry Wood and Buddy Curtis, the Boys & Girls Club of Fauquier opened its doors at Taylor Middle School. This was made possible by the Town of Warrenton, the County of Fauquier, the Fauquier County Public Schools and many dedicated individuals passionate about youth development.
In late 2009, having out grown Taylor Middle School, the Club moved to its current Clubhouse at 169 Keith Street in Warrenton. Soon after, the second club was opened in Cedar Lee Middle School. For seventeen years, Executive Director Jon Gregory was at the helm. In August of 2014, the organization’s second Executive Director, Lynne Richman Bell, filled the role. Ms. Bell initiated the restructuring of the Club, and closely aligned a partnership with Boys & Girls Club of America. Over recent years, the Clubs have vastly expanded programming, staff and community outreach. The third Club expansion opened in Marshall Middle School in Spring of 2018. Currently the Club serves approximately 350 members at the three locations and an additional 100 students through targeted outreach and partner programs. |
